When I joined SBIT, I was welcomed with open arms and immediately felt at home. You meet people who share the same interests. Moreover, you can support each other in doing your homework, making studying not only educational but also more enjoyable.
The study association appealed to me primarily because there is no social pressure to drink alcohol. You decide for yourself whether you join in and to what extent. Here it is truly about being together, helping each other out, and enjoying each other's company. And the beauty of it all is that it is all optional. There are no obligations to join every activity, but that does make your time here more enjoyable ;)
Another great advantage of being member of SBIT was that I got to connect with various companies during formal events. This led to me finding an internship at the Big Four, and there’s a good chance that they will be my employer after graduation.
By becoming an active member, I could focus on my personal and professional development while also having a tremendously fun time. But surely the highlight of my membership the study trip to Columbia. It was a unique experience to be exposed to a completely different culture, something I probably would not have organized on my own anytime soon. This trip broadened my horizons and made my time at university unforgettable. Ironically, afterward, I immediately joined the committee responsible for planning the next trip.
All in all, I can say that joining SBIT has been one of the best decisions I have made when starting my studies. It enriched my experience, expanded my network and gave me friends for life.
